Eddie Gene Rice, 81, a life-long resident of Bradley County, passed away Monday, May 6, 2019 in a Chattanooga Hospice Care Center.
Eddie was an electrician and involved in construction until he retired. He then worked for Bradley County as a Maintenance Supervisor until once again retiring. He was a member of North Cleveland Church of God and a member of the Discovery Sunday School class. Eddie was a third degree Mason and served as Worshipful Master of Cleveland Lodge No. 134. Eddie served in the Air Force from 1955 to 1959 in Little Rock, AR. and retired from the 241st Air National Guard in Chattanooga with 20 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Irene Chambers Rice.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Jane Swearingen Rice, of Cleveland; daughter, Kim (Dow) Woodard of Santa Clarita, CA; step-son, Roger (Laura) Vaughn of Oak Ridge; two grandchildren, Lora (Zane) Malone and Warren Dow Woodard, Jr.; two sisters, Joan (Bud) Gray of Ooltewah and Sandra Burger of Cleveland and three nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 9, 2019 in the chapel of Fike-Randolph and Son Funeral Home with the Reverend Carolyn Braddy and the Reverend Welton Wriston officiating. Interment will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday after the service in the Chattanooga National Cemetery with full military honors.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at the funeral home.
