Gilbert Spurgeon Ballard, Jr., 65, of Cleveland passed away Friday, January 25, 2019. He was a truck driver for Cleveland Ready Mix. Gilbert was a member of the Cleveland Hunting Club, Rifle and Pistol Club and the NRA. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed metal detecting.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert Spurgeon Ballard, Sr. and Cora Mai Baker Ballard; and his uncle, Harold Ballard.
Survivors include his wife, Janet Givens Ballard of Cleveland; children, Jamie Martinez and Brandee Boudreux, both of Cleveland; three grandchildren, Jobanna Hicks, Dylan Martinez and Brandon Martinez; two great grandchildren, Elijah Martinez and Beckham Hicks; brother, Elvis Ballard of Cleveland; sister, Jeannine Patterson and husband, James of Cleveland; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 28, 2019 in the chapel of Fike-Randolph & Son Funeral Home with the Reverend Doyle McCracken officiating. Interment will follow in Lebanon Baptist Cemetery with Dylan Martinez, Brandon Martinez, Tanner Hicks, Jamie Hope, Eddie Ballard and Alvin Hixson.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
