Ernest F. Jones, Jr.

Ernest Franklin Jones, Jr., 71, of Gadsden, Alabama and formerly of Cleveland, passed away Tuesday, October 30, 2018 in a Birmingham hospital.  He was a member of Fairview Road Church of Christ and an endowment member of the NRA.  He was retired from the United States Navy where he achieved AXC ranking.  Mr. Jones was also employed by NASA and Intel.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest F. Jones, Sr. and Elizabeth Jones; son, Gary Eugene Jones and special aunt, Geneva Rush.

He is survived by his wife Cathy Jones of Gadsden, AL; four children, Laura Elizabeth Kennedy and husband, Ed of Cleveland, Ernest F. Jones, III and wife, Shelly of Cleveland, Brian Christopher Jones, of Pensacola, FL and Christina Faith Zentz and husband, Bradley of Odessa, FL; fifteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Gerald and Gary Jones.

Funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. Monday, November 5, 2018 in the chapel of Fike-Randolph and Son Funeral Home with Jeff Archey officiating. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. in Chattanooga National Cemetery with full military honors.  Ernest Franklin Jones III, Brian Jones, Lee Jones, Josh Dailey, Ed Kennedy, Brad Zentz will serve as pallbearers.  Honorary pallbearers will be Avery Jones, Spencer Kennedy, Tipton Jones and Ernest Franklin Jones IV.

His family will receive friends from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 4, 2018 at the funeral home.
