Dewayne Hicks, 56, of Cleveland, passed away Monday, October 29, 2018 in a Chattanooga hospital. A native of Bradley County, Dewayne served as constable for the 6th District for 20 years. He was a 1982 graduate of Bradley Central High School and attended Westmore Church of God.
Hicks began his involvement in law enforcement as a charter member of the Cleveland Police Department’s Explorer program in 1980. He completed the department’s Citizens’ Police Academy. Early in his career, Hicks received several commendations while being a tactical support K-9 officer for the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny Earl Hicks and Carol Hicks; grandparents, Jack Daniel Smith and Grace Valaria Smith and Chester Franklin Hicks and Eunice Caldwell Hicks.
He is survived by his siblings, Tonya Hicks Sliger and husband, James Daryl of Cleveland, Tiffiny Hicks Wild and husband, Mike of Hixson and David Allen Hicks and wife Deborah Spector Hicks of Knoxville; nieces and nephews, Courtney Womac, Aubrey Sliger, Jonathan Sliger, Samantha Wild, A.J. Wild, Caroline Hicks and Jack Hicks; great-niece, Madison Womac.
Funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Friday, November 2, 2018 in the chapel of Fike-Randolph and Son Funeral Home with Alfredo Guerrero officiating. Interment will follow in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens.
His family will receive friends from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 1, 2018 at the funeral home.
