Evelyn Haney Coffey

Evelyn Margaret Haney Coffey, 88, a resident of Cleveland passed away Friday, October 5, 2018.  She was a lifelong member of Michigan Avenue Baptist Church.  She often told stories of how she walked to church as the initial meetings were held at the old Michigan Avenue School building.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, Cledis Coffey; parents, Lester and Mary Haney; brother, J.L. Haney; and sister, Joyce Haney Baxter.

Evelyn is survived by her son, Darrell Coffey and wife, Pam; special grandson and the light of her life, David Coffey; grandson, Eric Coffey and wife, Amanda; great granddaughter, Cary Lynn Coffey; siblings, Polly Moore and husband, Howard, Betty Melton, Franklin Haney and wife, Renee’ and Donald Haney and wife, Melba; sister-in-law, Loray Coffey; and special niece Pat Carlson, as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 8, 2018 in the chapel of Fike-Randolph & Son Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Wallin officiating.  Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.  A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.

Her family will receive friends from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.

The family would like to express a special thank you to Melissa Chin and Becky Burcham who loved Evelyn as their own family and cared for her during the last year of her life.
