Bonnie Mae Swafford Ash, 91, of Ocoee, passed away Monday, June 25, 2018 in Gainesville, GA where she had been living with her family for the past three years. She was born July 8, 1926 to the late Isom Lawson Swafford and Lula Thomas Swafford. Bonnie was a member of Smyrna Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school. She worked well into her 80’s at textile companies, Burlington, Coats of American and American Thread. Bonnie traveled some in her younger days and spent some time in Nebraska with her best friend, Rennie. She was a good friend, wife, mother and grandmother who worked hard and loved her family very much.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Ash; adopted son, Stevie Ray Ash; son, Wayne Millard Mullins and his father, Millard Mullins; brothers, Robert, James, Edwin and Charles Swafford; and sister, Fannie Swafford Rymer.
Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Mary Elizabeth Corbin Mullins of Cumming, GA; grandchildren, Mark Mullins, Sr. and wife, Bernice of Cumming, Mitchell Mullins of Gainesville, GA and his fiancée, Stacey Martin of Cumming, Kimberly Mullins of Cumming, Tammy Mullins of Cumming, Neil Mullins and fiancée, Laura Davis of Cumming, Shane Mullins and wife, Ashley of Austell, GA and Shauna Mullins of Cumming; 19 great grandchildren; 14 great great grandchildren; brother, Edgar Swafford and wife, Lorene of McDonald; sisters, Eleanor Leatherwood and husband, Roy of Chattanooga and Mary Watson Austin of Cleveland; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 1, 2018 in the chapel of Fike-Randolph & Son Funeral Home with Elder Herdis Kyle of East Side Church of Christ officiating. Interment will follow in Smyrna Baptist Church Cemetery.
Her family will receive friends from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
