Violet Gober Cox

December 1, 1933 — February 25, 2018

Violet Gober Cox, 84, a resident of Pensacola, Florida, formerly of Calhoun and Cleveland, passed away Sunday, February 25, 2018, in a Pensacola hospital.  She was born December 1, 1933.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Lucy Steele; six brothers: Bernie, James, Grady, Woodrow, Bob and John Steele; and four sisters: Grace Bailey, Jean Hutto, Nancy Littlefield and Margaret Lisenby.  In addition, she was preceded in death by her youngest son Michael, who she cared for from August 1969 to December 1974 after he was paralyzed in a swimming accident.

She is survived by her husband, Sidney T. Cox of Pensacola, Florida; son, Jessie Len Gober and daughter-in-law Lynn of Cleveland; grandson, Todd Gober and wife Nicole of Cleveland; two great grandsons: Traegan and Camden Gober of Cleveland; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, March 1, 2018, at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Fike-Randolph & Son Funeral Home with Lee Arrington officiating.  Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.  Pallbearers include Larry Newport, Jay Newport, Ricky Roundtree, Bud Brown, Mitchell Brown, Billy Mitchell, Gary Voorhees and Brent Watson.

Her family will receive friends Thursday beginning at 2:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
