Joe C. McClanahan, Jr., 79, of Cleveland passed away Saturday, January 13, 2018 at his home. He was a member of Big Spring Baptist Church where he coached the boys youth basketball team for several years. Joe was retired from Bowater Corporation after 30 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe C. and Frances Barger McClanahan, Sr. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Martha Trewhitt McClanahan of Cleveland; daughter, Kimberly McClanahan Peters of Knoxville; grandchildren, Brandon Peters and Andrew Peters both of Knoxville; brothers, Johnny McClanahan (Kaye) and Tony McClanahan (Nancy) all of Cleveland; sisters, Helen Martin and Patsy Beaty (Terry) all of Cleveland; uncle, Clifford Barger (Patsy) of Cleveland; special dog friend, Toby; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 16, 2018 in the chapel of Fike-Randolph & Son Funeral Home with Pastor Daniel Malone officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Al Williams, Lamar Arp, Brian Carroll, Kelly Harris, Ken Griffin, and Madison York serving as pallbearers. His family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
