Karlene Farabee, 71, of Cleveland, passed away Wednesday, August 30, 2017 in a local hospital. She moved to Cleveland from Washington D.C. in 1963. In her youth she was involved in the Bradley County Young Farmers and Homemakers and enjoyed being involved in the Rotary Dairy Show. Karlene was the past worthy Matron of the Ocoee Chapter #420 of the Order of the Eastern Star. She worked as a teacher at Waterville Elementary School and in later years worked for the Census Bureau of the United States Government. She was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Edward and Frances Varnell Farabee; sister, Carolyn R. Farabee; uncles, Bill Varnell and Frank Varnell and cousin, Wallace Varnell.
She is survived by her special friend, Tim Garrett and his children, Tyler Garrett and Makayla Garrett (Silas), all of Cleveland; aunt, Rebecca Varnell of Cleveland; other family, Kathy England of Cleveland, William Varnell of Chatsworth, GA, Warren Varnell of Cleveland, Wayne Varnell of Cleveland, Eugene Varnell of Benton and many cousins also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 2, 2017 in the chapel of Fike Randolph and Son Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Huff officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery with James Rymer, Sam Rymer, Wayne Varnell, William Varnell, Chris Varnell and Warren Varnell serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service.
