Oteen Smith

January 13, 1945 — August 12, 2017

Leona Oteen Miller Smith, born on January 13, 1945, made her transition to a new life on August 12, 2017, at her home, surrounded by her loving family and Robin Westmoreland, her friend and caregiver.

A long-time resident of Cleveland, she graduated from Bradley High School and furthered her education at Lee University.

Married to Charles Smith, also of Cleveland, for forty-seven years, they did everything together, including volunteer ministry at Hopewell Baptist Church. Also, for many years she was a member at the North Cleveland Church of God Choir.

Serving as receptionist and switchboard operator at Bradley Memorial Hospital for over thirty years, she greeted everyone with a smile, either in person or via phone.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Otis C. Miller and Louise Bell Miller, and her sister, Martha Miller Turner.

She is survived by her husband, Charles Smith of Cleveland; and close family members: Don and Betty Smith, Edward and Judy Smith, Allen and Faye Smith, Carolyn Smith, twin brother, Otis C. Miller, Jr. and his wife, Patricia, Kenneth and Elaine Miller, Don and Clariece Paulk and many nieces and nephews.

The celebration of her life will take place at Fike-Randolph & Son Funeral Home on Monday, August 14, 2017 at 6:00 p.m., following a reception of friends beginning at 4:30 p.m.

Officiating at the service will be the Reverend John Tudor, Pastor of Hopewell Baptist Church, of Cohutta, GA. And the Reverend Donald L. Paulk, Pastor of Spirit and Truth Sanctuary, Decatur, GA.

The family suggests that memorials may be made to: Hopewell Baptist Chruch, P.O. Box 218, Cohutta, GA. 30710
