Jack Allen Ledford, 80, a lifelong resident of Cleveland, passed away Thursday, July 20, 2017 at his home after a battle with cancer. He was a graduate of Charleston High School where he played basketball. He had a love of local sports. He followed and supported all his grandchildren in their sports endeavors. Jack was also an avid University of Tennessee fan and Atlanta Braves fan. He was a veteran of the United States Army where he served during the Korean War. He was an employee of Bendix where he retired after 30 years of service. He also worked many years as a carrier of the Cleveland Daily Banner where he met many people.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Cecil Roberson Ledford; father, Raymond Ledford; brother, William “Bill” Catfish Ledford; and son, Timmy Ledford.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Hazel Lawson Ledford; three daughters, Denise Cassada and husband, Tom, Renee Whitman and husband, Mark and Brittney Cottone and husband, Frank, all of Cleveland; brother, Sam Ledford and wife, Wilma; seven grandchildren, Cade and Lucas Whitman, Grace and Nicholas Cottone, Jackson and Kelsey Cassada and Lauren Calfee and husband, Tommy; great grandson, Samuel Calfee; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 24, 2017 at Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with Pastor Ted Smith officiating. Jackson Cassada, Cade Whitman, Lucas Whitman, Nicholas Cottone, Tommy Calfee and Hunter Parker will serve as pallbearers.
His family will receive friends from 3:00-6:00 p.m. on Sunday at Fike-Randolph & Son Funeral Home.
