George R. “Bob” Hughes, 76, lifelong resident of Charleston passed away Sunday, June 18, 2017 at his home. He served in the National Guard and attended Charleston First Baptist Church. Mr. Hughes was best known for his service as Bradley County Road Superintendent for 12 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, H.L. and Ruth Hughes; and brother, H.L. Hughes, Jr.
Survivors include his daughter, Bobbie Jo Henry (Bryan) of Charleston; granddaughter, Kylie Henry of Charleston; brother, Bill Hughes (Grace); sisters, Jo Lyle and Alice Miller (John); and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 21, 2017 in the chapel of Fike-Randolph & Son Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Moats officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Jeff Spence, Shane Hughes, Dewey Hughes, Bryan Henry, Sam Trewhitt and Rusty Powell serving as pallbearers. Billy Lyle will serve as honorary pallbearer.
His family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
