William “Bill” Wilkinson, 91, a resident of Cleveland passed away Monday, April 3, 2017. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and served during World War II. Bill was a minister of the gospel with the church of Christ and served in various churches throughout Tennessee, Georgia and North Carolina. He preached his first sermon at Union Grove church of Christ in 1958, where he was a current member.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Thursie Shannon Wilkinson who passed away six months ago; parents, Friendly and Mattie Prater Wilkinson; brother, Grover Wilkinson; and sister, Margaret Duggan.
Survivors include his daughter, Janice Stephenson and husband, Mark of Cleveland; grandson, Jacob Stephenson of Cleveland; sisters, Mardell Wilkinson and Betty Taylor, both of Cleveland; sisters-in-law, Ada Wilkinson of Cleveland, Ruth Ann Shannon of Old Fort and Edith Morrow of Delano; brother-in-law, Eugene Duggan of Cleveland, special cousin, Alwilda Brown of Cleveland; and several nieces and nephews.
The service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at Union Grove church of Christ with Minister Doyle Parton and Minister Jeff Archey officiating. Interment will follow in Union Grove Church of Christ Cemetery with Jim Randolph, Larry Duggan, Neil Taylor, Kim Randolph, Mitchell Duggan, Wayne Pippenger, Jim Whaley and Charles Cartwright serving as pallbearers.
His family will receive friends from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday at Fike-Randolph & Son Funeral Home.
