Betty J. Simpson, 89, of Cleveland, passed away Monday, January 23, 2017 at a local hospital. She was a retired bookkeeper for Freeway Motors. She was a member of Waterville Baptist Church. Betty was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother and loved people.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dowell Simpson; parents, Daris and Lillie Mae Crowe; and siblings, Willie Rose, Grover Crowe, Bertha Mae Cameron, Wilma Jean Overholt, Pearl Mathis and Myrtle Rose.
Survivors include her loving companion of 18 years, William Burnette; seven children, Warren Oaks and wife, Virgie of Cleveland, Joyce Baker of New Market, TN, Linda Levy and husband, Bob of Savannah, GA, Donnie Hodge of Rossville, GA, Lynn Cooper of Cleveland, Janice Knowles and husband, Mike of Ringgold, GA and Gary Hodge of Ocoee, TN; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; sisters, Ethel Arden and Francis McGinnis, both of Knoxville; brothers, Harley Crowe of Blaine, TN and William Crowe of Cleveland; several nieces and nephews; and her loving friend, Hazel Bird.
The funeral will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 28, 2017 in the chapel of Fike-Randolph & Son Funeral Home with Pastor Joe Brooks officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Cemetery.
Her family will receive friends from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
