Charles E. McDonald, 86, of Cleveland passed away Tuesday, November 22, 2016 in a local hospital. He was a member of North Cleveland Baptist Church for 70 years where he coached church softball for 15 years. He was retired from Schering Plough after 20 years of service with perfect attendance. For many years Mr. McDonald was a bulldozer operator in the excavation business.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Reverend C.E. McDonald and Stella Wade McDonald; daughter, Tammy McDonald; and two brothers and five sisters.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Emma Jean McDonald of Cleveland; son, Scott McDonald of Cleveland; grandsons, Brandon McDonald and wife Rachel of Ooltewah and Jeremy Conners of Palm Harbor, FL; granddaughters, Christin Smith and Deanna McDonald both of Cleveland; eight great grandchildren; brother, Bill McDonald and wife, Dixie of Riceville; sister-in-law, Sue McDonald of Etowah; and several in-laws.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 26, 2016 in the chapel of Fike-Randolph & Son Funeral Home with Dr. Jay McCluskey officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Jason McDonald, Brian McDonald, Terry Lynn Morrow, Dean Earby, Dewayne Morrow, and Alan Colloms serving as pallbearers. The Adult Men’s #1 Sunday School Class of North Cleveland Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers. The service will conclude with a white dove release ceremony.
His family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
