Robert "Bob" Travis

Robert “Bob” M. Travis, 91, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Wednesday, November 2, 2016. He was born and raised in Chattanooga, Tennessee and moved to Cleveland in 1965. He began his career in the office equipment business with Burroughs Corporation in 1947 and retired after 47 years as President of Commercial Business Machines. He graduated from Chattanooga City High School and served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps in World War II in the Pacific Theatre. He was active civically in Cleveland, serving in many leadership capacities in the Cleveland Elks Lodge and Kiwanis Club. He was also an active member of Broad Street United Methodist Church, serving as President of the Kelly Class for many years.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Connie Travis; parents, Hugh and Hattie Travis; brothers, James and Willard Travis; and sister, Pearl Travis.

Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Joy Travis Beacham and Bryan Beacham of Cleveland; two sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Lisa Travis of Charlotte, N.C and Mark and Cathy Travis of Cookeville; four grandchildren, Travis Beacham (Michelle), Meg Connor (Garrison), Ryan Travis, and Adam Jaynes (Megan); great-grandson, Beacham Connor; and several nieces and nephews.

The service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at Broad Street United Methodist with the Reverend Randy Martin officiating.  Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

His family will receive friends from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday at the church prior to the service.
