Broughton “B.J.” Maynor, 75, of Cleveland, passed away Friday, October 14, 2016 in an Etowah health care facility. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Vietnam where he received the Purple Heart and the Vietnam Service Medal with 3 Bronze Service Stars. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving from 1973 to 1975. Mr. Maynor was a member of the American Legion and VFW and was active in the Bradley County Democratic Party.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Jo Maynor; parents, Burch and Lena Maynor;
twin brother, Burch Maynor and brothers, Charles Maynor, and Frank Maynor; sister, Edna Rogers; and step-son, Greg Lawson.
Survivors include his children, Dida Knight of Cleveland, Steve Gatlin and Sharlee of Chattanooga; grandchildren, Abigail Gatlin and Kate Lawson; sisters, Peggy Chastain of Marietta, GA and Jeannie Baxter of Jasper, TN; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 in the chapel of Fike-Randolph & Son Funeral Home with Pastor Matt Maynor officiating. Interment will follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors.
His family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
