Parma B. Pettit Messer, 86, of Birchwood, passed away Monday, September 5, 2016 at her home. She was a retired seamstress from Simco Leather Company in Chattanooga. Parma loved yard work, working with her flowers and going fishing. She loved her family and her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Parma was a member of New Hope Primitive Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Messer; and parents, Floyd and Maggie Sneed Pettit.
Survivors include her children, Susie Millard, Darlene Messer, Anita (Glenn) Allen, and Brent (Susan) Messer, all of Meigs County, Kirk (Pat) Messer of Cleveland and Karen (Teddy) Swafford of Calhoun; 12 grandchildren; several great and great great grandchildren; sisters, Wanda Bell of Chattanooga and Laura Scott of Meigs County; and a host of friends.
The service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 in the chapel of Fike-Randolph & Son Funeral Home with Elder John W. Robbins officiating. The interment will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday at Mt. Olive United Methodist Church Cemetery in Decatur. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.
Her family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
