Kathy Castello Smith

Kathy Castello Smith, 59, of Cleveland went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 21, 2016.  A lifelong resident of Cleveland, she was a 1976 graduate of Bradley Central High School.  She was a supervisor with Pathway Press.  Kathy learned to play the piano at 8 years old and loved to sing for Jesus Christ, our Savior.  At a very young age she knew God had called her to minister in music for Him.  Kathy was a well-known Southern gospel singer and was with The Seekers for 30 years.  She was a member of Community Hall Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bobby and Madeline Hackney Castello.

Survivors include her husband of 30 years and the love of her life, William Smith of Cleveland; children, Brad (Laura) Byrum of Ooltewah and Candice Byrum of San Francisco, CA; three grandchildren who were the joy of her life, Ethan Byrum, Ayden Byrum and Anna Byrum; two brothers, Steve Castello (Natalia Kouyova) and Barry Castello, both of Cleveland; sister, Robin Castello (Craig Fertenbaugh) of Jacksonville, FL; mother and father-in-law, Jack and Reba Smith; brother-in-law, Bryan Smith; nieces, Jenna Castello, Madison Castello and Madeline Castello; and nephews, Mason Fertenbaugh and Cory Castello.

The funeral will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 24, 2016 in the chapel of Fike-Randolph & Son Funeral Home with Pastor Jeannie Cissom, Pastor Rob Works and Pastor Bill Beaty officiating.  Interment will follow in Lebanon Cemetery with Billy Hamilton, Mike Hamilton, Bryan Smith, Josh Hamilton, Tom Castello and Christian Hamilton serving as pallbearers.  Honorary pallbearers will be Craig Fertenbaugh, Ethan Byrum and Ayden Byrum.  A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.

Her family will receive friends on Saturday from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 1:30 - 3:30 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
