Jack Owen Watson

Jack Owen Watson, 76, of Cleveland, was born on November 15, 1939 and passed away Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at his home under loving Hospice and family care.

He graduated from Bradley Central High School in 1959.  As a star football player he was selected as a member of the National High School All-American team his senior year.  Jack continued to play football in college, having received an athletic scholarship to the University of Tennessee-Knoxville.  Finishing at the University of Chattanooga in 1965 he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree and began teaching at Prospect School and then later at Bradley Central High School where he also coached football.  He began working with his brothers in the grocery business until his retirement.  Jack will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, J.B. and Jabie Million Watson; and three brothers, Joe Watson, John Watson and Jerry Watson.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Susan Arnold Watson; two children, son, Buck Watson and wife, Holly and daughter, Katie Watson and husband, Brad; three grandsons, Knox Watson, Jack Watson and Hank Watson; sister, Charlotte Arnett and husband, Burton; sisters-in-law, Iva Dean Watson, Linda Watson and Judy Watson; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Pastor Dustin Wilds officiating.  Brad Davis, Steen Watson, Jack Arnett, Jason Woodall, David Turner and Gary Pederson will serve as pallbearers.  A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.

His family will receive friends from 1:00-3:00 p.m. on Saturday at Fike-Randolph & Son Funeral Home prior to the service.

The family suggests that memorials be made in Jack’s memory to the Bradley Central Football Program, 1000 South Lee Highway, Cleveland, TN 37311.
