Ruth Lea Ownby

Ruth Lea Ownby, 94, of Cleveland passed away Friday, April 8, 2016 at her home. She lived in Bradley County all her life. She was a member of Waterville Baptist Church.

She worked at Cleveland Woolen Mill 33 years and 12 years at Duracell Battery. She was a blessing and inspiration to all of her family. Ruth enjoyed working in her vegetable garden.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ashley L. and Mary E. Ownby; siblings: Orville Ownby, Alta Montgomery, Theresa Taylor, Edith Berry, Taft Ownby, Watt Ownby, Donald Ownby, Lee Ownby, Estel Ownby, Ashley Ownby, Homer Ownby, Gladys Kirkpatrick and Mary Wooten.

She is survived by one brother, Ray Ownby and wife, Myrtle of Cleveland; sisters-in-law: Oleta Ownby, Grace Ownby, Frankie Ownby all of Cleveland and Zetta Moore of Ooltewah; numerous nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; and great great nieces and nephews. She is also survived by close friends, Carolyn Woody and Ruby Woody.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 12, 2016 in the chapel of Fike-Randolph & Son Funeral Home with Pastor Allan Lovelace officiating. Interment will follow in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with Tim Ownby, Tony Ownby, Tommy Ownby, David Montgomery, Tillis Ownby, and Ashley Ownby serving as pallbearers. Bobby Kirkpatrick, Marvin Kirkpatrick, Gary Ownby, Dwight Ownby, Lebron Montgomery, Donnie Ownby, Hoyt Ownby, Rick Ownby, and Charles Howard will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Her family will receive friends from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Monday, April 11, 2016 at the funeral home.
