Robert E. Pence, 88, formerly of Cleveland, passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at a Knoxville hospital. He was a veteran of the United States Coast Guard and served during World War II. Robert retired from Norfolk/Southern Railroad after 35 years of service. He was a member of the East Ridge Lodge #755 F & AM where he was a master mason. He was of the Christian faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert P. and Lector King Pence; grandson, Michael E. Shirley; three sisters; and four brothers.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Marie Atchley Pence of Lenoir City; daughters, Peggy A. Shirley and husband, Mike of Lenoir City and Joy D. Lobence and Christine Lobence of Loudon; grandson, Robert B. Shirley; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 in the chapel of Fike-Randolph & Son Funeral Home. The entombment will follow in Lakewood Memory Gardens-East.
His family will receive friends on Wednesday from 12:00–1:00 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
