Herman Louis Finnell

Herman L. Finnell, 90, of Harrison passed away Saturday, January 23, 2016 at his home. He was a member of Red Hill United Methodist Church. Mr. Finnell was a veteran of the US Army, participating in the Rhineland Campaign and Central Europe Campaign. He was awarded the European African Middle Eastern Theater Medal and the Combat Infantry Badge. He was decorated with the Bronze Star Medal, the Medal of Good Conduct, the Victory Medal for World War II, and the EAMET Medal. In 2013, he was awarded the French Legion of Honor Chevalier Insignia.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Greely and Arvina Randolph Finnell; brothers, H.G. Finnell, W.C. Finnell and Kenneth Finnell; and sister, Helen McNair.   

Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Joe Ann Walker Finnell of Harrison; son, Randolph Finnell and wife Kelley of Chattanooga; grandchildren, Jason Finnell and wife Natalie, and Casey Finnell all of Chattanooga; great-grandson, Jensen Finnell; sister, Hazel Finnell of Cleveland; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 27, 2016 in the chapel of Fike-Randolph & Son Funeral Home with the Reverend Terril Littrell officiating. Interment will follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. with military honors. Tim McKay, Ray McKay, Shawn McKay, Joel Finnell and Chase Marsh will serve as pallbearers.

His family will receive friends from 10:00-12:00 p.m. on Wednesday prior to the service at the funeral home.
