John W. Marshall, 81, of Cleveland, died Monday, December 7, 2015 in a local healthcare facility. He was a native of Saltville, Virginia. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Charleston and retired from Olin Corporation after 32 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Gracie Marshall; brother, Cecil Marshall; grandsons: J.J. Marshall and Jess Marshall; and great-granddaughter, Claire Bacon.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Shelba Marshall of Cleveland; two sons, Jay Marshall and wife Melanie, and Craig Marshall and wife Beverly, all of Cleveland; granddaughters: Allison Bacon and husband Tim of Cleveland, and Samantha Foster and husband Steven of Columbus, GA; great-grandchildren: Patrick and Shelby Marshall of Athens, Jaden and Andrew Foster of Columbus, GA, Emmarie and Lainey Bacon of Cleveland, and Aidan Atkins of Meigs County; sisters: Frances Cregger and Bonnie Lynn, both of Saltville, VA; and several nieces and nephews.
The service will be held on Thursday, December 10, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Fike-Randolph & Son Funeral Home with Pastor Harrill Millsaps officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Tom Allison, Kenneth Ames, David Allison, Steven Foster, Tim Bacon and Patrick Marshall serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers include members of the Men’s Sunday School Class of Charleston First Baptist Church and Walter Nunnely, Bill Chastain, Eddie Harris, K.D. Murray, Bill Brock and Lee Womac.
His family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
