Robert E. Smith, 81, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Sunday, November 1, 2015. He was born October 15, 1934 to the late Raines and Ruth Smith of Ducktown, TN. He was of the Baptist faith and a very faithful and dedicated member of Parkway Baptist Church for many years. He had a servant's heart and was very compassionate to those in need. He retired from American Uniform Trucking after 45 years of service. He served in the US Marine Corps from 1954- 1962. Among all other things Robert enjoyed throughout his life, was his salvation with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and the great Christian heritage of his family. In addition to his mother and father, Robert was preceded in death by his lovely bride of 50 years, Patricia L. Smith who passed away January 9, 2012, along with his siblings, William Hoyt Smith, James Smith, Herbert Smith, Betty Mosley and Winnie Jo Levine. He leaves behind to cherish his memory one son, Dwight E. Smith of Cleveland; three daughters, Stephanie Reffner and husband Keith of Cleveland, TN, Sheila Harris and husband, Michael of Darden, TN and Darlene Hollifield Goolsby and husband Terry of Indianapolis, IN; grandchildren, Andrew Reffner and wife, Maranda and Lauren Reffner, all of Cleveland, Kaytlyn, Kayla and Kaleb Hardin, all of Darden, Hannah, Cody, Matt, Kyle, Heather, Michelle and Shannon Myers, all of Indianapolis; two great, great grandchildren, Landon Riley and Jackson River Reffner (who knew how to light up his world) both of Cleveland; two brothers, Kenneth Paul Smith and wife, Jeanne of Ducktown and Hugh Don Smith of Cleveland; several nieces, nephews, extended family and special friends whom he loved dearly. A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Fike-Randolph & Son Funeral Home with Pastor Shane Lawson officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Military Honors. His family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 4, 20415 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. Thank you to the nurses and staff of Signature Healthcare, who have taken care of daddy for the last three years. Special thanks to Karen Jones, CNA for that special bond you had with dad, for your kindness and support. We are humbled by the care and compassion shown to him by you.
