Pearl Joyce Gary Roark, 88, of Cleveland, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 1, 2015. Joyce led a life that embodied the American Dream. After growing up on a farm in West Tennessee during the Great Depression, she became the first college graduate in her family. She enjoyed a successful career as a hospital dietician. She married another hard working Tennessean, Alvon Delmont Roark. Joyce helped mold and shape the lives of four children and seven grandchildren. She remained steadfast in her devotion to God and church throughout her life. She was tough, but fair, honest and very generous when it came to providing love and support. Joyce is now in heaven with her beloved husband and leaves behind a remarkable legacy and a loving family, the members of which will always cherish the life lesson she imparted. The family will hold a private graveside service at Hamilton Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to benefit cancer research, the building fund at First Baptist Church of Cleveland or to the charity of your choice. We invite you to send a message of condolence and view the Roark family guestbook at www.fikefh.com. Fike-Randolph & Son Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
