Harry James "Chip" Thomas, 71, lifelong resident of Cleveland passed away Saturday, July 18, 2015 in a local hospital. He was an active member of Beacon Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the US Army. He was preceded in death by his parents, A.J. and Lela Thomas; brothers, Robert E. Boring and Leland A. Thomas, Jr.; and step-daughter, Carolyn Stewart. Survivors include his wife, Martha Yarber Buckner Thomas; sons, Donnie Thomas (Pam) of Hixson and Billy Thomas (Tina) of Cleveland; stepchildren: Wesley Buckner (Mary) of Cleveland, Diane Hatcher (Rubin) of Maryville and Dennis Buckner of Cleveland; eleven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren; sisters, Faye Thomas Davis Durham (Elgin) of Athens and Gwen Thomas Adams (Joe) of Cleveland; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 in the chapel of Fike-Randolph & Son Funeral Home with Pastor Floyd Boggess officiating. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, at Benton Memorial Gardens. His family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home prior to the service.
