Virgie L. Combs, 78, of Cleveland, passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at a local health care facility. She retired from Charleston Hosiery Mill with 44 years of service. Until her health declined she attended Sunrise Baptist Church. She loved reading her Bible, going to church and talking about the Lord. Virgie enjoyed cooking for her family and friends and you never left her home hungry. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Viola Edmonson McAlister and a special nephew, Roy Stacey McAlister. Survivors include her daughter, Ginger Combs of Benton; son, Keith Combs of Cleveland; and granddaughter, Whitney Combs of Clarksville. She loved them very much and prayed for them daily. Virgie is also survived by her siblings and their spouses, Roy (Betty) McAlister, Lottie (Everett) Watkins, Kathy (Ronald) Davis, Gary McAlister and Mike (Bettina) McAlister; and several nephews. The funeral will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 17, 2015 in the chapel of Fike-Randolph & Son Funeral Home with Pastor Benny Watson officiating. The interment will follow in Council Cemetery in Charleston with Tim Tilley, Charles Beavers, Danny Wilcox, Wade Watson, Joe Rymer and Cody Posey serving as pallbearers. Her family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home prior to the service.
