Joy Faye Humberd McGroom, 85, passed away on December 20, 2014 after a brief illness. Born in Cleveland, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late John Willis and Fannie Hughes Humberd. Joy graduated with a BS in Education from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and retired from teaching at Collierville High School. A member of Collierville United Methodist Church, Joy enjoyed gardening and following Lady Vols Basketball. Grammy will be remembered most for the love she shared with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her children Stan McGroom and Joy Lynn Scott (Ben); her grandchildren CPT Ben Scott III (Tracy), Joe McGroom (Erica), Morgan Scott Barnett (Alex) and Ethan McGroom; her great-grandsons Ben Scott IV, Russell Hughes Barnett and Rowan McGroom; and sister, Irene Patching of Signal Mountain. The graveside service will be on December 26, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at Sugar Creek Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Memorial donations may be made to the Knitting for Missions, Collierville United Methodist Church at 454 West Poplar Avenue in Collierville, Tennessee 38017.
