Clarence Carter, 86, of Cleveland, passed away Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at a local hospital. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He retired from Chattanooga Trailer and Rental and was a member of Galilee Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Fannie Petitt Carter; and also his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Luther and Ollie Rose. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Lucille Carter of Cleveland; three children: Judy Farmer and husband Thomas of Reliance, Marie Baker and husband Thomas of Cleveland and Allen Carter of Cleveland; seven grandchildren: John Farmer, Malinda Efaw, Ben Baker, William Baker, Courtney Carter, Caleb Carter and Callie Carter; three great grandchildren: Alissa Baker, and Jacob and Ethan Efaw; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 13, 2014 in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with Pastor Don Weaver and Pastor Ray Cheatham officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with military honors. His family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
