Charlie Evert Lawson

January 11, 1917 — October 21, 2014

Charlie Evert Lawson, 97, of Cleveland passed away Tuesday, October 21, 2014 in a local hospital. Mr. Lawson was the first employee hired by Cleveland Express where he later retired as a truck driver. He was a loving husband and father; he enjoyed nature and the outdoors. He was preceded in death by his parents, Houk and Emma Brewer Lawson; sisters, Margia Lawson and Charmye Lawson; and brothers, Loris Lawson and Carl Lawson. Survivors include his wife of 74 years, who was constantly by his side, Beulah Denton Lawson of Cleveland; children, Linda Brown (Gene) of Cleveland, and Jerrie Guffey (Dennis) of Greenville, SC; grandchildren: David Brown of Cary, NC, Lawson Brown of Cleveland, Christina Roma of Waxhaw, NC and Rachel Carter of Greer, SC; great-grandchildren: Phillip Roma, Maggie Roma, Alex Carter, Claire Brown and Nash Brown; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 24, 2014 in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with Pastor Allan Lovelace officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Phillip Roma, Alex Carter, Jeff Roma, Ray Poe, Len Millians and Frank Edwards serving as pallbearers.
