Augustes Jessie "Guss" Morgan, 88, a lifelong resident of Bradley County, passed away Thursday, August 7, 2014 at her residence. She was a member of Council Baptist Church. She was a foster mother to several children for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arlee Morgan; parents, Frank and Laura Houston; and brothers, Curtis Houston and Beachel Houston. Survivors include her daughter, Gaynell Lunsford and husband, Bill of Eads; son, Larry Morgan of Charleston; grandchildren, Scott Lunsford of Utah and Amanda Byrd and Curtis Morgan, both of Charleston; seven great granddaughters, Shiloh Lunsford, Selah Lunsford, Jocelyn Lunsford, Emily Byrd, Melody Byrd, Elizabeth Byrd and Lily Morgan; sister, Mary Howard of Charleston; special friend, Yvonne Morgan; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 9, 2014 in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with Pastor Keith Watson officiating. Interment will follow in Council Baptist Church Cemetery with Jeff Guardia, Ricky Hall, Keith Gibson, Jerry Rayburn, Tiffany Guardia and Cliff Howard serving as pallbearers. The service will conclude with a white dove release ceremony. Her family will receive friends on Friday from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
