Margaret Martin Wehunt, 86, of Cleveland passed away Thursday, June 12, 2014 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She was born January 9, 1928 and was a native of Warren County, TN. Margaret received her BS and MS degrees from the University of Tennessee where she was a member of Phi Eta Tau, P.E. honorary sorority and Sigma Kappa social sorority. She began her teaching career at Bradley County High School and then moved to Polk County High School and Copper Basin High School. She also served as Supervisor of Instruction in Polk County. Margaret was also a teacher and supervisor in Hampton, VA and a teacher at Kingston Junior High School. She was a communicant of St. Luke's Episcopal Church where she served as president of ECW and held other offices in the women's group. She also served on the Altar Guild. Margaret was the daughter of the late George F. Martin and Wavie Cooley Martin. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Harry B. Wehunt, Jr., brothers, Phillip Arnold Martin, G. Fred Martin, Robert D. Martin, Sr., and nephew, Mark A. Martin. Survivors include her sisters-in-law, Kathleen W. Martin, Mildred S. Martin and Jimmy W. Martin; five nephews; two nieces; and several great nieces and great nephews. A reception will be held Friday, June 20, 2014 from 12:00-1:00 p.m. in the Parrish Hall of St. Luke's Episcopal Church followed by a memorial service at 1:00 p.m. in the church sanctuary with Deacon Art Bass presiding. Inurnment will follow in St. Luke's Memorial Garden. Memorials may be made to St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 320 Broad St. NW, Cleveland, TN 37311 or the charity of choice.
