Glenda Faye Batts

Glenda Faye Batts, 72, of Cleveland, passed away Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at her home. She was a 1960 graduate of Bradley Central High School. In 1961 she was the second person hired at Mallory Battery (Duracell) when it opened and retired from there after 42 plus years of service. Glenda was a member of West Cleveland Baptist Church. She enjoyed scrapbooking and spending time at the beach. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Geneva Guffey Faulkner. Survivors include her husband of 46 years, George J. Batts of Cleveland; children, Gena Patterson and husband, James of Ocoee and Greg Batts and wife, Tracy of Zebulon, NC; three grandchildren, Jameson Patterson, Owen Batts and Ivey Batts; sisters, Helen Ellis and husband, Lynn of Ocoee and Mary Harrison and husband, Ken of Cleveland; sister-in-law, Barbara Roberson of Cleveland; nephews, Brian Harrison and wife, Melisa of Holly Springs, NC, Kevin Holmes and Chris Holmes, both of Cleveland and Mike Holmes of Coker Creek; nieces, Melanie Mink and husband, Waylon of Cumming, GA and Kim Jones and husband, Randy of Cleveland; and special caregiver, Claudia Anderson of Charleston. The funeral will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, 2014 in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with Pastor Arris Cavender officiating. The interment will follow in Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery with David Higgins, Claude Ray, Gary Park, Michael Gatlin, Jimmy Bradford and Donnie Stafford serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Jameson Patterson, Brae Stafford, Chandler Stafford and Chandon Gatlin. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home and on Saturday one hour prior to the service.
