Bobby Kenneth Lawson, 76, of Cleveland, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, March 10, 2014 with his family by his side. He served on the USS Colahan (DD658) Naval ship from 1955-1957. Bobby retired from Lonas Construction as a heavy machine operator and later was an office manager at Walker Valley Motors. His hobbies were fishing, watching NASCAR and football and listening to country music. He was preceded in death by his parents, Coy and Grace Lawson; and sister, Dean Palmer. Survivors include his spouse of 56 years, Shirley Lawson of Cleveland; children, Teresa Hurst and husband, Michael and Kenny Lawson and wife, Shannon, all of Cleveland; grandchildren, Jami Spencer and husband, Larry, Miranda Harper and husband, John and Rebekah Hurst; great grandchildren, Markeze Harper, Blake Moses, Ashlin Harper and Jake Spencer; siblings, Harold Lawson and wife, Patsy of Kingston and Douglas Lawson and wife, Sandy, Jimmy Lawson and wife, Susie, Jane Dake, Linda Wilson and Freda Pettit, all of Decatur.; sister-in-law, Trudy Smith and husband Jim and brother-in-law, Ront Lawson and wife, Lisa, all of Cleveland; and several nieces and nephews and special friends. The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with Pastor Jeannie Cissom and Pastor Lois Ann Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with military honors. Matt Tarver, John Harper, Blake Moses, Ernie Cannon, Marty Lawson and Michael Lawson will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Zeke Shelton, Vaughn Horn, Jimmie Smith, Ront Lawson, Bill White, Mike Campbell, Steve McConnell, Mike McConnell, Kirk McConnell and neighbor, Ron.
