George W. "Dickie" Haun, 75, a resident of Birmingham, AL for over 40 years and formerly of Cleveland, passed away Monday, February 17, 2014 in a local health care facility. He received a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Tennessee in 1960 and retired as an investment advisor from Prudential Securities after 28 years of service. He was a member of the Dawson Memorial Baptist Church in Birmingham, AL. George enjoyed Bible study, football and old movies and was the founder of the Big Orange Club in Birmingham. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Estel Haun and Lillian Mae Gee Haun. Survivors include his children, George Wendell Haun, Jr. and wife, Elaine of Baton Rouge, LA and Grayson Haun Parks and husband, Edwin of Orlando, FL; grandchildren, Anthony Haun and Alex Haun, both of Baton Rouge; brothers, J. T. Haun and wife, Dorothy of Cleveland and Harry Haun and wife, Martha of Rossville, GA; sister, Barbara Foster of Fort Collins, CO; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 22, 2014 in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Wickes officiating. Interment will follow in New Friendship Cemetery. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Saturday prior to the service at the funeral home.
