Jack D. Melton, 75, a resident of Cleveland, was welcomed into the arms of his lord and savior, Friday, December 6, 2013.Jack was at his home surrounded by his loving family. Jack was a member of Bellefounte Baptist Church and was employed by Bowater Paper Mill for 36 years. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed watching his grandsons play sports at Walker Valley High School and Young Harris College. He was a veteran of the Army National Guard. Jack enjoyed spending time with his family especially his granddaughter and three grandsons. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herschel and Artie Bell Melton and sister, Vorus Ingle. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Sara Grace Morrow Melton of Cleveland : children, Steve and Donna Melton and Den and Diannia Melton, all of Cleveland; grandchildren, Jessica Melton Warner and husband, Stephen, Clark Melton, Logan Melton and Cooper Melton, all of Cleveland; siblings, Herman and Margie Melton of Cleveland and Carl and Vesta Melton of Riceville. Other extended family and church family also survive. A celebration of his life will be conducted at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, December 8, 2013 in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with Pastor Lake Walker officiating. Interment will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 9, 2013 in Riceville Cemetery with grandsons, Clark Melton, Logan Melton, Cooper Melton and grandson-in-law, Stephen Warner, Allan Walsh and Tommy Melton serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are his golfing buddies, Gene Canup, Arnold Moss and Ken Smith. His family will receive friends from 3:00 - 6:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home prior to the service.
