Wilma M. Hicks, 97, a resident of Cleveland went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 20, 2013. She was retired from East Brainerd Lumber Company and was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Cleveland. Miss Hicks organized the first Tax Aide for the elderly for Cleveland, Athens and Etowah areas. She was a former president of Women in Construction. She was well known for her love for traveling throughout the world. She was preceded in death by her parents, Levi W. and Cleo Randolph Hicks; three brothers, Roy M. Hicks, Clyde Hicks and James Hicks who lost his life during World War II; and two sisters, Bonnie Lawson and Helen Hicks. She is survived by one sister, Betty Hyde of Cleveland; nieces, Terri Ricketts and husband, Ron, Cindy Smith and husband, Raymond, all of Cleveland, Martha Touchton and husband, Butler of Murfreesboro, Jayme Hicks and Marion Raml of Johnson City and Patti Hicks Whaley of London, England; nephew, Jim Hicks and wife, Carolyn of Knoxville; several great nieces and nephews; several great great nieces and nephews, including special great great nephew, Sam Tyner; and devoted caregivers, Gail Walker and Nancy Carson, both of Cleveland. Funeral services will conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 26, 2013 in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with Minister Steve Morgan officiating. Interment will follow in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens. The service will conclude with a white dove release ceremony. Her family will receive friends from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home prior to the service.
