Christine Rives

Christine Rives, 86, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, November 16, 2013 at Bradley Healthcare with her children by her side. She was a member of North Cleveland Church of God. She worked at Woolworths and the Church of God publishing house in her younger years. She delivered newspapers in the Cleveland area for the Cleveland Daily Banner and Chattanooga Times for many years. She loved her children and grandchildren tremendously and lived a life of faith in God before them. She was preceded in death by her parents Roy Edgerton and Bertha Johns Edgerton; sisters: Helen Powell, Frances Taylor, Jennie Mae Hall and Nina Picklesimmer; stepson, Bill Rives; granddaughter, Danica Holder; and father of her children and best friend, Walter Rives, Sr. Survivors include her children: Melody Griffith, Eldon Rives and wife Darla, DeLonda Calfee and husband Glenn; stepdaughter, Janice White; grandchildren: Orey Griffith, Colby Griffith, Ryan McCartt, David McCartt, Andy Calfee, David McAlister, Richard McAlister and George McAlister; sister, Joyce Mauldin Jones of Lavonia, GA; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and very special caregivers at Bradley Healthcare, wing 4. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at Fike Funeral Home with her nephew, Dr. Walt Mauldin and Pastor Keith Watson officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Cemetery. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. Her family will receive friends from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
