Robert L. Tinsley, 85, of Cleveland, passed away Thursday, October 24, 2013 at his home. He was a 1948 graduate of Bradley High School. Robert was a veteran of the United States Marines where he received the Purple Heart for combat wounds while in Korea. He retired from Bowater after 36 years of service. He was a member of White Oak Baptist Church where he was ordained as a deacon in 1981. Robert enjoyed family, farming, fishing in his early years and loved watching wild life. He had a deep love for children. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rosco and Juanita Burgess Tinsley; brother, Ralph Tinsley; two sisters, Mary Jane Bean and Sue Scott; and grandson, Paige Tinsley. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Dorthella Romines Tinsley of Cleveland; sons, Tony Tinsley and wife, Linda of Benton and Keith Tinsley of Cleveland; daughter, Jackie Ownby and husband, Dan of Cleveland; seven grandchildren, Shane Tinsley and Valerie Tinsley, both of Chattanooga, Ryan Tinsley, Blake Tinsley and fiancé, Sasha Cantrell, Shalan Beasley and husband, Mack, Tiffany Kirkpatrick and husband, Adam and Megan Ownby, all of Cleveland; step grandsons, Darion Leamon and Daniel Leamon; 8 great grandchildren, Marcus Tinsley, Nathan Draper, Austin Draper, J.D. Kirkpatrick, Teagan Kirkpatrick, Gavin Kirkpatrick, Tucker Ownby and Ryley Ownby; 6 step great grandchildren, Tyler Leamon, Luke Leamon, Evan Leamon, Gunner Gregory, Shelby Beasley and Abby Beasley; one step great great grandson, Kylan Leamon; 6 brothers, Bud Tinsley, Frank Tinsley, Joe Tinsley, Glen Tinsley, Major Tinsley and Coy Tinsley; 4 sisters, Iona Scoggins, Norma Floyd, Margaret McKamey and Ola Mae Trentham; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 28, 2013 in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with the Reverend Ronnie Cantrell and the Reverend Gene Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with military honors. Shane Tinsley, Ryan Tinsley, Blake Tinsley, Valerie Tinsley, Adam Kirkpatrick and Mack Beasley will serve as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 6:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
