2 Timothy 4:7 "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." The Savior that Freddie R. Hyde sang about for more than 40 years welcomed him Home to Beulah Land on Friday, June 7, 2013. Freddie was widely known for his wonderful voice and his love of gospel music, his compassion in always helping others, and his sense of humor and practical jokes. He was an encourager and mentor to many in gospel music. Freddie leaves a legacy of loving and serving his Savior and loving his family and many, many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer B. and Maude Chastain Hyde and one brother, Charles Hyde. Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 35 years, Mildred "Myrt" Hyde of Cleveland; precious daughter, Michelle Hyde and boyfriend, Todd Nease and children Cody, Tucker, Carson and Laurabeth Nease; two brothers, Ken Hyde and wife, Ann and Pip Hyde; special sister-in-law, Betty Hyde; other family members, April and Ronnie Duncan, Bill and Debra Deaton, Delores and Russell Guthrie and Ann Hanks. Several nieces and nephews and special friends, Betty and Roy McAlister, Everett and Peggy Pierce, Joann and Phil Clark, Roy and Brenda Glass and Ann (Granny) Borders also survive. He is also survived by his "four-legged babies"; Delilah, Slim, Petunia, Roxie, Pollyanna, Penelope, Bella, and Slinky. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 9, 2013 at Clingan Ridge Baptist Church with Pastor James Vaughn, Pastor Johnny Payne, and Pastor Mark Cameron officiating. His family will receive friends from 2:00 -7:00 p.m. on Sunday at the church prior to the service. Interment will be held on Monday, June 10, 2013 in Mount Moriah Baptist Church Cemetery, 1650 Marrestop Rd., Murphy, NC 28906. Freddie will lie in state from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. at Mount Moriah Baptist Church, with the graveside service following at 2:00 p.m. Matthew Packett, Todd Morrow, Todd Thurmond, Greg Young, Jeff Pierce, Don Boyd, Chris Boyd and Phil Clark will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Neil Allen, Roy McAlister, Cody Nease, Tucker Nease, Donald Samples, Larry Samples, J.C. Eller and Everett Pierce.
