Carl D. Green, 90, a life-long resident of Cleveland passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at his home. He would have celebrated his 91st birthday next week. He was a life-long member of Big Spring United Methodist Church. Mr. Green was employed by Dupont Corporation for more than 30 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 81. He enjoyed golfing and traveling. He was preceded in death by his parents Y. Jess Green and Nellie Tilley Green; two brothers, Mack and Jake Green; and grandson, Rob Westphal. Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Merle Sims Green of Cleveland; three children, Steve Hixson and wife, Cathy of Cleveland, Annette Phillips of Cleveland, and Terry Hixson and wife, Doris of Port Charlotte, FL; grandchildren, Scott Kyle and wife, Lisa, Chip Phillips and wife, Mary, Mike Phillips, Sarah Lambert and husband, Adam, Kim Hixson, Tina Hixson, and Kelly Hixson; step-grandchildren, Rendi Welton, Elaine Hixson, and Liana Corn; great-grandchild, Ella Marie Lambert; brother, Jess Green and wife, Wanda of Cleveland; nieces, Susan Jerfie and husband, Joe, Karen Green, and Judith Green; and nephew, Danny Green and wife, Marcella. Memorial services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, May 19, 2013 in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with Reverend Lyle White, Reverend Debbie Stokes and Adam Lambert officiating. Inurnment will be Monday at 2:30 p.m. in Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors. His family will receive friends from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
