Ellen Ann Campbell, 90, died peacefully in a local hospital February 3, 2013. Mrs. Campbell was born November 15, 1922 and was the daughter of Judge George Edward Westerberg and Alpha Davis Westerberg. She was born in her grandparents', Dr. Kansas Douglas Davis and wife Lula Rogers Davis home in St Elmo, TN. She attended Arnold Elementary School, Bradley County High School and earned a B.A. in History from the University of Chattanooga in 1944. In the summer of 1944, she was presented at the Cotton Ball, Chattanooga, Tn. Mrs. Campbell worked as a hostess on the Streamliners; "The Southerner" and "The Tennessean", which were Southern railway trains. She worked as a secretary in her father's law office. Mrs. Campbell volunteered enough years working with 4-H to have earned a B.S. in Agricultural Science. Mrs. Campbell was a member of, D.A.R., U.D.C. (Honorary Division President, TN Division), and various historical and genealogical societies. Mrs. Campbell has written and compiled several books and enjoyed helping other historians and genealogists. She will be greatly missed She was preceded in death by her husband Winston Robert Campbell; parents, George and Alpha Westerberg; brother, George Davis Westerberg; and sister, Lula Elizabeth Westerberg. She is survived by her sons: Robert George Campbell and his wife Carol Campbell, David Alexander Campbell and his wife Margaret E. Bridendall Campbell, and Edward Westerberg Campbell and his wife Sarah Jill Sells Campbell; five grandchildren: Captain Robert Douglas Campbell and his wife Captain Jenny Coker Campbell, Catherine Ann Campbell, George Edward Campbell, James Alexander Campbell and Phillip Winston Campbell; George, James and Phillip Campbell having all achieved the Boy Scouts of America Eagle Scout Rank. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 5, 2013 in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with the Reverend Debbie Stokes and Reverend Randy Martin officiating. A private graveside service will be held Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. in Fort Hill Cemetery. Her family will receive friends from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at the funeral home.
