Mildred Virginia Brown, 84, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, January 19, 2013 in her home surrounded by her loving daughters. She was of Baptist faith and attended Philippi Baptist Church. She was a retiree from Duracell after many years of employment, where she came to know and love many of those she worked with. She was born October 20, 1928 in Scottsboro Alabama, and was the daughter of the late Jackson Rodgers and Lucille Mount Rodgers. She was married to her late husband John Pleasant Brown on August 23, 1946 and they made their home in Cleveland. John passed away at 40 years old and Mildred never remarried or even dated. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother that thought the world began and ended with her family. She was very devoted to her family and loved spending time with them. Her days were always brighter when her family was near. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents; daughter, Diane Brown Headrick and sister, Alice Rodgers Miller. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon Brown Bottoms and Darrell, Carol Brown Collins and Denny and Bill Headrick all of Cleveland; 5 grandchildren, Brandon (Lisa) Headrick, Nicholas Headrick, Jamie (Chris) Green, Denny (Cassie) Collins, Jr. and Whitney (Mike) Creekmore; 11 great-grandchildren, Caleb and Caden Headrick, Ryleigh and Coleman Green, Ensley, Caileigh and Avery Collins, Madison, Chloe, Reese and Kendyl Creekmore; 2 sisters, Mary Rodgers Randolph and Sarah Rodgers Bullington both of Cleveland; brother-in-law, Paul (Kurly) Miller of Panama City Beach, FL. Several nieces and nephews also survive. A celebration of her life will be held at 8:00 p.m. on Monday, January 21, 2013 in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with the Reverend Sammy Hooker officiating. Interment will be held on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with the Reverend Johnny Hood officiating. Brandon Headrick, Nicholas Headrick, Caleb Headrick, Denny Collins, Chris Green and Mike Creekmore will serve as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.
