Joe M. McClure, Jr. 59, a resident of Knoxville passed away Friday, January 11, 2013 at a Knoxville medical facility. He was a Chief Petty Officer in the US Navy where he served 3 tours of duty during the Viet Nam War; he later served as a Navy recruiter in several US cities. He was of the Church of God faith. He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Reverend Lloyd and Mildred Jones and Lee and Daisy McClure. Survivors include his wife, Patti Penney McClure of Knoxville; parents, Joe Sr. and Frieda McClure of Cleveland; children, Rananah Chastain and husband Jason of Cleveland, Joshua McClure of Cleveland and Zachary McClure and wife Stacy of Fort Myers, FL; step-children, Holli Case, Ian Baxter and Garrett Baxter all of Knoxville; grandchildren, Kayla Chastain, Abigail Chastain and Clayton Chastain; step-grandchildren: Shawn Case, Jessica Case, Lydia Baxter, Daphne Baxter and Skylar Baxter; brother, Reverend Mitch McClure and wife Sherrie of Hixson; niece, Sara McClure and nephew, Jonathan McClure and wife Rachel. Funeral services will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. Monday, January 14, 2013 in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with the Reverend Mitch McClure officiating. Inurnment will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 15, 2013 in the Chattanooga National Cemetery with Military Honors. The service will conclude with a white dove release ceremony. His family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Monday, January 14, 2013 at the funeral home prior to the service. The family suggests that memorials may be made to the Wounded Warriors, 4899 Belfort Rd.
