Carolyn "Big Mama" Capehart, 95, of Birchwood passed away Tuesday, December 25, 2012 in a Cleveland healthcare facility. A resident of Birchwood since 1959, she was formerly from East Chattanooga. She was a member of New Liberty Baptist Church in Birchwood. Mrs. Capehart was involved in Birchwood Senior Neighbors and enjoyed needle point and gardening. She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester "Coffee" Capehart; and her parents, William Sutton and Gussie Sutton Cunningham. Survivors include her three children, Charlotte Bischoff and husband, Jeff of Birchwood; Jim Capehart of Cleveland; and Lewis Capehart and wife, Bobbie of Cleveland; six grandchildren, David Capehart and wife, Cindy of Chattanooga; Janet Bischoff of Birchwood; Maryanita Capehart of Trenton, GA; Aleasha Verhaag of Virginia Beach, VA; Vann Bischoff and wife, Amanda of Frisco, TX; and Tyson Capehart of Cleveland. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 28, 2012 in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with Pastor David Delmotte and Pastor Gary Powell officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in East Chattanooga. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.
