JoAn Green, 79, a resident of Old Fort has went to be an angel in heaven. She passed away in the comfort of her home surrounded by her family. She was of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Green loved gardening, flowers, being with her family and helping others; she was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She was loved by all who knew her. Her family asked not to grieve her death but to remember her beautiful smile and all the joy she has brought into everyone's life. She was preceded in death by her parents, Haskell and Maggie Harris; sister, Louise Ratcliff; and grandsons, Brad and Adam Green and Jonathan Pike. Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Bill Green of Old Fort; children: Billy Green and wife Margaret, Tim Green and wife Shannon, Tony Green and Sandie Green; grandchildren: Brandy Calton and husband Kenneth, Dustan Green and wife Jennifer, Cody Green, Amber Green, Carmen Burgess and husband Kevin, Brandon Green and wife Jade and Storm Green; great-grandchildren: Kolbie, Kallie, Braden, Austin, Tanner, Landon, Tayvin, Lauren, Kolten and Karter. Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 7, 2012 in the Boanerges Cemetery with the Reverend Jerry Campbell officiating. Dustan Green, Brandon Green, Cody Green, Kolbie Calton, Kevin Burgess and Kenneth Calton will serve as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.
