John H. "J.H." Runyon, 82, a resident of Cleveland passed away Saturday, October 06, 2012 in the arms of his loving family. He was of the Christian faith. Mr. Runyon was retired from DuPont after 35 years of service. He was a veteran of the US Air Force having served in Korea. He was a graduate of Bradley Central High School, class of 1949. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gwendolyn "Pete" Runyon; parents, Fate and Rachel Wilcox Runyon; brothers, Roy Lee Runyon, Paul Runyon and Fate Runyon, Jr.; sisters, Mary Belle Wright and Marie Gray. Survivors include his loving companion for 24 years, Wilba Dean Taylor of Cleveland; children, Craig Runyon (Jan), Tammy Rice (Harlon) and Brent Runyon (Dawn) all of Cleveland; 6 grandchildren: Kiya Rice, Layla Mullin, Kyle Runyon, Laney Runyon, Drake Runyon and Chloe Runyon; 6 great-grandchildren; brother, Jimmy Runyon of Cleveland; several nieces and nephews; extended family members, Kenny and Kathy Taylor of Kentucky, Brad and Shelley Taylor of N. Carolina and Susan Holmes of Cleveland. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 08, 2012 in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Sears and Pastor Tazz Reid officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Cemetery with military honors. Kyle Runyon, Drake Runyon, Harlon Rice, Chris Mullin, Pete Van Dusen and Harold Blanton will serve as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. His family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday, October 07, 2012 at the funeral home.
