Kenneth Hysinger, 83, a resident of Cleveland peacefully went home to be with Jesus Tuesday evening September 18, 2012 in a local healthcare facility. He was born January 12, 1929 in Cleveland. He faithfully attended Hopewell Church of God until his decline in health. He proudly served his country in the National Guard and the US Marine Corps during the Korean War. He started his career at Dixie Foundry and retired from Whirlpool after 45 years. He was an avid knife collector, and always had a garden and loved to watch Atlanta Braves and Tennessee football games. He was preceded in death by his parents, Morgan and Ethel Hysinger and sister, Dorothy Allison. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Laura Jean Hysinger of Cleveland; 4 children, Rhonda Roark (Ken), Mitzi Streifthau (Wayne) , Labron Hysinger (Lara), Donna Thompson (Jerry); grandchildren: Amy Bandy (Tom), Jeremy Roark, Jennifer Awotula (Emmanuel), Dustin Hysinger, Matt Jones (Sara), Savannah Thompson and Jeff Thompson (April); great-grandchildren: Kourtney Byrum (Matt), Mitchell Bandy, Noah, Isaiah, and Micah Awotula, Jayden and Dylan Thompson; great-great grandchild, McKinleigh Byrum; brother, Charles Hysinger; and sister, Sue Fortner (David). Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 21 in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Sears officiating. Interment will follow in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with military honors. Jeremy Roark, Dustin Hysinger, Jeff Thompson, Matt Jones, Tom Bandy and Emmanuel Awotula will serve as pallbearers. Dwight Tinsley, Albert Belcher, James Nance and George Warren will serve as honorary pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. His family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home prior to the service.
