Shirley Alene Guthrie

Shirley Alene Guthrie, 74, of Cleveland went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, August 11, 2012 at SkyRidge Medical Center. She was a member of Center Point Baptist Church. She was employed with Bradley Motor Company (Hall Chevrolet) for 10 years and Magic Chef for 25 years. A native and lifelong resident of Bradley County, she was the daughter of the late P.W. and Minnie Bryson; also preceding her in death was her sister, Hettie Sue Bryson and granddaughter, Catie Ann Guthrie. Survivors include her husband of almost 51 years, Franklin D. Guthrie of Cleveland; her son and daughter-in-law, Newton and Jennifer Guthrie of Cleveland; four grandchildren, Heather Guthrie, Conner Guthrie, Colton Guthrie and Cody Guthrie. Shirley was one of nine children and is survived by: Gladys Bryson White of Hixson, TN, Ralph Bryson of Cleveland, Jewell Bryson of Carrollton, GA, Wilma Bryson Goins of Dover, KY, O.J. Bryson of Hixson,TN Dale Bryson of Sweetwater, TN and Melvin "Ted" Bryson of Cleveland. She was also very loved by numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 14, 2012 in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with the Reverend David Evans and the Reverend Johnny Underwood officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with nephews serving as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.
